Nikon's full auto mode, Easy Mode, makes the camera a true point-n-shoot, that is perfect for anyone who wants to capture great images without learning the ins and outs of photography. Just pointing and half-pressing the shutter release allows the camera to do all of the work, focusing and setting all of the camera settings for the current shooting situation for you, including detecting faces and choosing the correct scene mode. Then all you have to do is finish pressing it to capture the image.

The camera's regular auto mode is equivalent to the program mode on other cameras. Here you have control over a few of the camera settings like the flash, ISO and white balance, but in the end, the camera will take care of the exposure settings for you, so they are always correct.

For specific shooting situations, Nikon has added 19 scene modes that you can select yourself: Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Portrait, Party/Indoor, Beach, Snow, Sunset, Dusk/Dawn, Night Landscape, Close-Up, Food, Museum, Fireworks, Black and White Copy, Backlighting, Easy Panorama, Pet Portrait and 3D.

Here you can see the options available from the 4-way controller when you are in Auto (Program) mode. You can adjust the flash mode, Exposure compensation, Macro focus, and self-timer.
