Nikon Coolpix 5400

The Coolpix 5400 features a 4x Optical Zoom-Nikkor lens with Nikon's Extra- Low Dispersion (ED) glass with a zoom range of 28-116mm (35mm equivalent) with a maximum aperture of F2.8-4.6.

Employing a 5-area Multi AF focusing system, the camera can automatically select the "best" focus point or you can select it manually. The autofocus range is 19.7 inches to infinity in normal mode or from 0.4 inches to infinity when in macro mode.

The Nikon Coolpix 5400 is compatible with Coolpix accessory lenses including the 1.5x ED glass teleconverter (TC-E15ED)(174mm*), the 0.8x Wide Angle Adapter (WC-E80)(23mm*) and the new Fisheye converter lens (FC-E9)(5.6 mm* for an unprecedented 190 degrees of coverage), as well as the Slide Copy Adapter (ES-E28) for copying slides.

Using the hot shoe the Coolpix 5400 can be fitted with an external speedlight such as the Nikon SB-50DX shown here or the SB-80DX, SB-28DX, SB-28, 27, 26, 25, 24, 23, or 22s can also be used. The built-in Speedlight can be cancelled when using an external flash or used in tandem.

Note that the camera can NOT control the speedlight's zoom head or use its AF assist lamp.  The camera and SB-50DX or SB-80DX can also work together without a sync cable. These flashes have an integrated slave-sensor that works with the Coolpix 5400 (and other Nikon cameras). The range of the TTL wireless flash operation is approx. 7m (23 ft.) and there is no limit to the number of flashes that can be used.
