Playback Modes & Screens

The Playback screen displays the time and date of capture, the folder name and filename. The icon on the left indicates that this image is marked for Auto Transfer. A voice memo can be recorded by depressing the shutter button. On the bottom is the image size/quality (4- megapixel/High) and the image # / total # of images on the SD card or internal memory.

Thumbnail index mode (Wide zoom button) displays 4 or 9 images per page.

The image can be magnified from 1.2x to 10x in 0.2x steps, once enlarged you can scroll around inside of it using the 4-way controller.

Playback menu has options for Print set (DPOF) printing information, automated slideshow, image Delete, image Protect, Auto Transfer, Small pic and Copy. The Small Picture option creates a smaller image for email or web use, select from 640x480, 320x240 or 160x120 size.

The Photo Trim option works in conjunction with playback zoom, allowing you to crop out a smaller section of an image and save it as a new image.

Audio memos can be attached to still images and are be played back in-camera, thanks to its built-in speaker and microphone.

QuickTime movies are played back in full screen mode, playback starts by pressing the 4-way controller's center button.

During playback, the 4-way controller's left and right buttons are used to select the playback controls displayed at the top of the LCD; pressing the center button performs the selected action. The bar at the bottom indicates the playback position with the running time in seconds displayed on the right.

Set-Up menu options:
    Welcome screen - Change the image used for the power up screen (Disable, Nikon, Animation, or Select an Image)

    Date - Set the internal time and date

    Date imprint - Records date, or date & time onto image

    Monitor settings - Adjust monitor settings (Start-up Display, Review options, Brightness)

    Sound settings - Change camera sounds for Buttons, Shutter, Start-up, and adjust Volume

    Auto Off - Sleep delay time: 30s, 1m, 5m, 30m

    Format memory/card - Format internal memory or SD card

    Language - Choose Menu language (11 languages available)

    USB - Select the USB protocol: PTP or Mass Storage

    Video Mode - Video output format: NTSC or PAL

    Reset All - Reset all settings to default

    Firmware version - Display the camera's internal software version
