Kodak LS443 Zoom
Part of the EasyShare System
Features & Controls
![]() The LS443 Zoom is equipped with a Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon f2.8 3X optical zoom 35 - 105mm (35 mm equivalent) f/2.8 aspherical zoom lens. To further extend the focal range there is a 3.3x digital zoom.
The autofocus range is 2 ft. to infinity in normal mode and in macro mode
it covers from 5 to 28 inches.
![]()
The built-in flash has Auto, Fill and Red-eye reduction modes and a useable
range of 1.6 to 10.8 feet in wideangle and 1.6 to 6.6 feet in telephoto.

The optical viewfinder is large and bright with framing marks and autofocus target
but it has no dioptric adjustment. The LED on the side indicates power, flash and
autofocus status. The color LCD is automatically turned on when you switch the
camera into macro mode to avoid parallax problems with the optical finder at close
range.
![]() The 1.8-inch color LCD can be used for preview, review and menu operations. The refresh rate when used as a live viewfinder is realtime (30fps). This is a new Indoor/Outdoor type of color LCD that is much easier to see in bright sunlight.
On the top right is the rocker switch control for the zoom lens. The Share button is used
to quickly print or email photos, more on this later in the review. The Delete button is
used to erase images. The Menu button calls up or dismisses the onscreen menu system.
The Review button puts the camera in Playback mode.

The Mode Dial has positions for: Movie, Off, Auto, Sports, Night Portrait, Landscape and
Macro. In the center of the Mode Dial is the the 4-way "joystick" selector to navigate
menus and accept selections by pressing it inwards. It is also used to select images in
Review mode.
![]()
On top is the DRIVE mode button (single, aelf-timer, sequential),
the FLASH mode button (Auto, Red-Eye, Fill and Off) and the
shutter release button. Off to the left is the speaker.
![]()
The LS443 Zoom has a DC IN port for an AC adapter, an Audio and Video Out (user-selectable
NTSC or PAL) port and a USB 1.1 port works with the Kodak Picture Sofware to make image
downloading fast and easy even without the use of the Easy Share Dock.
![]()
When the camera is placed in its dock the USB cable is connected to the
port on the back of the dock.
![]()
The LS443 Zoom comes with 16MB of internal memory and is equipped with an expansion
slot that accepts any capacity Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMedia card (MMC).
Images and movies can be copied to/from internal memory and to/from a SD or MMC card.
![]() Power is supplied by a 3.7v proprietary lithium rechargeable battery pack that is supplied with the camera. Kodak claims a useful battery life of 200-300 shots with minimal color LCD useage. The LS443 comes with the special EasyShare camera dock that has a built-in charger. It takes about three hours to charge a fully depleted battery pack. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
