Features & Controls
The Easy Share Dock is great, you just drop the camera into place and press the button. This launches the Kodak Picture Software on your PC and downloads the photos. Leave the camera in the docking cradle and after several minutes of inactivity it will automatically begin charging the batteries (if using NiMH rechargeables.)
We have another page with screen shots of the
Kodak Picture Software to show you how it works.
When you buy a Kodak Easy Share-compatible camera it comes with a
special insert that mates it to the universal Easy Share Dock.
The DX3215 is equipped with a 30 - 60mm f/4.5 - 9.0 (35mm equiv.) zoom lens. It has a 2x digital zoom feature to further enhance the focal range.
The focus range in normal mode is 30 in. to infinity (W), 60 in. to infinity (T),
and in macro mode from approx. 6 to 12 in.
The optical viewfinder is large and bright with framing marks but no dioptric
adjustment. The LED on the side indicates power is on and camera is ready to
capture. The color LCD is automatically turned on when you switch the camera into
macro mode to avoid parallax problems with the optical finder at close range.
The built-in multimode flash has a range of 1.6 - 7.9 ft. and can be set for
automatic, fill, red-eye reduction or disabled.
All of the controls (except the shutter button) are located on the back. The POWER button turns the camera on and off. Next to that is the zoom lens control. The FLASH button cycles you through the Auto, Red-Eye, Fill and Off modes. The SELECT button calls up the onscreen menu. Navigating the menus is simple, just use the 4-way selector to move up and down through the selections and accept a setting by pressing the SELECT button. The DELETE button erases pictures.
The switch below the 4-way controller changes the camera modes between (left to right)
Record, Play and Setup.
Unlike many of the other entry-level digicams the DX3500 has a Video Out feature,
the signal is switchable between NTSC and PAL format. The USB port works with the
Kodak Picture Sofware to make image downloading fast and easy even without the use
of the Easy Share Dock.
The DX3215 has 8MB of internal memory in which you can store images or to extend your
picture taking capabilities it has a Secure Digital / MultiMediaCard (SD/MMC) card slot
which accepts cards up to 128MB in capacity.
Power is supplied by a single CR-3V lithium cell (supplied), the Kodak NiMH battery pack or two AA type batteries (alkaline type is not recommended.) The optional Easy Share Dock includes the rechargeable NiMH battery pack or you can use any brand of NiMH rechargeable type AA cells.
