Shooting MenuShooting Menu settings are accessed by pressing the MENU/OK button and using the Multi-selector control to navigate the menus. I'll step through the menus and explain them below.
FILM SIMULATION: Standard (STANDARD), Studio portrait (F1, F1a, F1b, F1c), or Fujichrome (F2). D-RANGE: Sets the dynamic range of images COLOR: Sets the density of the color of images TONE: Sets the contrast of images SHARPNESS: Softens or sharpens the outlines in an image and to adjust the quality of the images COLOR SPACE: Sets the color space to sRGB or Adobe RGB ISO: 100, 125, 160, 200, 250, 320, 400, 500, 640, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3200 WHITE BALANCE: Auto, Incandescent, Fluorescent lamp (15), Fine, Flash, Shade, Choose color temp, Preset custom (1-5) WB FINE TUNE: Fine tunes white balance 3, 2, 1, 0, +1, +2 , +3 QUALITY: Raw, Fine, Normal JPG, Raw+Fine JPG, Raw+Normal JPG RECORDING PIXELS: Small = 2304x1536, Medium = 3024x2016, Large = 4256x2848 MULTIPLE EXPOSURE: Enables shooting multiple exposures in the same frame LIVE VIEW DISPLAY: Enables monitoring an image on the LCD monitor while adjusting the focus SHOOTING MENU RESET: Resets the Shooting Menu to the factory default settings. NOISE REDUCTION: Sets the noise reduction effect.
Setup MenuSetup Menu settings are accessed by pressing the SETUP button and using the Multi-selector control to navigate the menus. There are 11 submenus.
Shooting Setup Submenu:IMAGE COMMENT: User comment of up to 45 characters (EXIF) can be enteredBARCODE READER/GPS: Stores the information of a barcode reader or a GPS device SHOOTING SPEED: Sets the rate at which pictures can be taken in continuous low speed mode EXPOSURE DELAY MODE: Reduces camera shake due to mirror movement by delaying the shutter release SELF-TIMER: Self timer on or off QUICK PREVIEW DATA: Sets the speed to display images on the LCD monitor
Display Setup Submenu:IMAGE DISPLAY: Specifies how long to display shot images on the LCD ILLUMINATION: Keeps the LCD backlight active until the auto power save function is triggered GRID DISPLAY: Displays grid lines in the viewfinder to aid composition VIEWFINDER WARNING: Displays the warning icons in the viewfinder when the battery is low or
no memory card is inserted
Rotate Image Setup Submenu:
AUTO ROTATE PLAYBACK: On or Off AUTO IMAGE ROTATION: On or Off
Auto Focus Setup Submenu:
AF-C MODE PRIORITY: FPS Rate, FPS Rate+AF, Focus AF-S MODE PRIORITY: R:Release, F:Focus FOCUS AREA FRAME: Sets focus frame to Normal Frame (11 Areas) or Wide Frame (7 Areas) GROUP DYNAMIC AF: Sets the type of focus area group AF LOCK-ON: Long, Normal, Short, Off AF ACTIVATION: Specifies whether autofocus activates when the shutter button is pressed halfway AF AREA ILLUMINATION: Controls whether or not the active focus area is highlighted in the viewfinder FOCUS AREA SELECTION: Specifies using the wrap around function when pressing the Multi-selector in order to select the focus area BUILT-IN AF-ASSIST: AF-assist illuminator On or Off
Exposure Setup Submenu:
AE LOCK: Specifies how to lock exposure ISO AUTO CONTROL: Activates the ISO auto control function EV CONTROL STEPS: Specifies the EV steps for exposure setting EXP COMP/FINE TUNE: Specifies the increment for exposure compensation EASY EXPOSURE COMP: Sets the exposure compensation adjustment by rotating the command dial CENTER-WEIGHT AREA: Sets the size of diameter for metering in the center-weighted metering FINE TUNE EXPOSURE: Optimizes exposure by choosing a standardized level for each metering
Flash Setup Submenu:
FLASH SYNC SPEED: Sets the flash sync speed in the range of 1/250 to 1/60 sec FLASH Tv SPEED: Sets the slowest shutter speed when using the flash in exposure mode BUILT-IN FLASH: Sets the flash control mode for the built-in flash MODELING FLASH: Specifies whether CLS (Creative Lighting System) compatible Speedlights emit a modeling flash AUTO BRACKETING SET: Sets the auto bracketing setting AUTO BKT IN M EXP. MODE: Specifies whether the camera varies shutter speed, aperture, and/or flash level when bracketing is activated in exposure mode M AUTO BKT ORDER: Sets the order in which pictures are recorded in auto bracketing mode AUTO BKT SELECTION: Select the number of exposures and exposure
increment separately, or to use a preset combination
Button Assignment Setup Submenu:
AE-L/AF-L BUTTON: Specifies the function performed by the AE-L/AF-L button CENTER BUTTON: Specifies the function performed by the center of the Multi-selector MULTI-SELECTOR: Multi-selector readies the camera (wake up) from standby status, or initiates autofocus FUNC. BUTTON: Specifies the function performed by the FUNC button FUNCTION LOCK: Disables the Command Dial and Setup menu COMMAND DIALS Specifies the function performed by the command dials BUTTON AND DIAL: Enables using the buttons and command dials together for operations TEST-SHOOTING (NOCARD): Disables shooting an image without a memory card
Miscellaneous Setup Submenu:
NON-CPU LENS DATA: Registers non-CPU lens data MB D200 BATTERY TYPE: Specifies the type of batteries for the MB-D200 battery pack AF-ON FOR MB-D200: Controls the function of the AF-ON button of the MB-D200 battery pack FILE TAG OPTIONS: Specifies the aspect ratio and resolution (DPI) for an image when the
image is cropped and saved
Maintenance Setup Submenu:
BATTERY INFO: Displays the status of the rechargeable battery NP-150 FIRMWARE VERSION: Displays the current camera firmware version MAINTENANCE COUNTER: Displays the number of pictures taken and the number of times the shutter unit was replaced MIRROR LOCK-UP (CLEANING): Raises the mirror to allow cleaning of the low-pass filter
Time/Language Setup Submenu:
DATE/TIME: Corrects the date or time TIME DIFFERENCE: Specifies time difference settings, Home vs Local LANG.: Specifies the language used for screen display, 9 choices
System Setup Submenu:
FORMAT: Initializes the memory card USB MODE: Sets the USB interface when connecting the camera to PC FRAME NO: Continuous or Renew AUTO POWER SAVE: Sets the time to delay until the auto power save BEEP: Controls the pitch of beep sounds VIDEO SYSTEM: NTSC or PAL SET-UP RESET: Resets all camera settings to the factory default |
