Fujifilm FinePix S1500 Zoom Review

Playback Screens & Menus
When you select Playback mode the last picture taken is displayed. You can move backward or forward through the images using the LEFT and RIGHT buttons on the 4-way controller. The amount of overlay information displayed is controlled by pressing the DISP and '+/-' buttons. Here you see folder number - image number, image quality mode and the date & time.
Depressing the '+/-' button displays exposure information, including a histogram. Icons indicate that image quality was set at 10M Fine, ISO 64, 1/340 second Shutter speed, Aperture was set at f5.6, FinePix Color setting was standard, the Flash mode (Off), White Balance was set to Auto and we did not use Exposure Compensation (0). You can also see the time and date the image was captured along the bottom.
You can quickly search through stored images using the Index playback function which is actuated using the wide angle zoom control. Display four, nine or 100 (that's right 100!) thumbnail size images per page and you can select one using the 4-way controller and then pressing the MENU/OK button or pressing the Telephoto zoom control.
The image can be magnified in several steps (I counted 43 in total) with the telephoto Zoom control. Once the image is enlarged at any step, you can move around (Pan) inside of it using the 4-way controller.
Movie clips can be played in the camera or viewed on a TV using the supplied Audio/Video cable. There is a built-in speaker in the camera to hear the audio portion of movies or voice memos (when not plugged into a TV set).
The Playback menu lets you Erase a single frame or all frames, Remove Red Eye, Rotate an image, Protect or un-protect image(s), copy images between internal memory and the SD card, Record/Re-record a Voice Memo, Trim (crop) an image, or enter the SETup menu (see below).
The Trim function allows you select an area of the image using the zoom and 4-way controller, and crop it. The cropped image is saved as a 5M, 3M 2M, or 0.3M image depending on the degree of cropping performed.
You can record up to 30 seconds of audio and attach it to still images. These voice memos can be replayed in the camera and heard through the speaker.
Depressing the F button in Playback mode lets you setup automatic playback or set DPOF printing parameters.
