Please excuse the quality of the screen shots. The Fuji JZ500 does not come with an A/V output cable, it must be purchased as an optional accessory. Therefore, we had to photograph the LCD screen.

The top left icon shows the Shooting mode is set to Auto with more info provided on the top right of the screen. You can see the Resolution is set to 14M (14-megapixels) and next that the Quality is set to F (fine).

Above shows the what the screen will look like when the camera is in Program Mode.

When you half-press the shutter release the autofocus is locked and the exposure is calculated and set. If the autofocus is successful, you will see the yellow box shown above, if it is not the box will turn red.

The 4-way controller allows you to change the commonly used settings without going into the camera menu. Pressing up allows you to change the Exposure values, Right changes the flash mode, Down turns on the self timer and right turns on macro mode. In playback mode this controller is used to navigate through your images, to activate the delete function, access menus and to navigate around an image when zoomed in.

Menu options:
    • ISO - Auto, 64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 (3-M)
    • Image Size- 10M Fine, 10M Normal, 9M (3:2), 5M, 3M, 2M, 3M
    • Image Quality -  Fine, Normal
    • FinePix Color - Standard, Chrome, B&W, Sepia
    • White Balance - Auto, Fine, Shade, Fluorescent 1, Fluorescent 2, Fluorescent 3, incandescent (Scene modes only)
    • Continuous - On or Off
    • Face Detection - On with Red-eye removal, On without Red-eye removal, Off
    • AF Mode - Center, Tracking
    • Face Recognition - Face Registration, Register, View & Edit, Erase, Auto Registration


fuji_jz500_rec_movie.jpgMovie mode allows you to capture video with sound at resolutions of either 1280x720, 640x480 or 320x240. Movies can be recorded continuously either until the memory card is full or until the file size gets close to 2GB. A rare option is that you are able to use the optical zoom while the camera is recording.
