The top left icon shows the Shooting mode is set to Auto and underneath
it is the battery indicator. The next two icons show that Image
stabilization and Face Detection are on. When there is no flash icon,
the flash is on automatic, otherwise there will be some type of icon
shown. More info is provided on the top right of the screen. You can
see the Resolution is set to 10M (10-megapixels) and next that the
Quality is set to F (fine) and that you can take 6 more images at the
current resolution. By pressing the DISP. button you can choose to show
this info all the time, take it away or even show a grid on the screen
to help you with framing your shots.

When you half-press the shutter release the autofocus is locked and the
exposure is calculated and set. If the autofocus is successful, you
will see the yellow box shown above, if it is not the box will turn
red. You will also
see the selected shutter speed and aperture values across the bottom.

Movie mode allows you to capture video with sound at resolutions of
either 640x480 or 320x240. Movies can be recorded continuously either
until the memory card is full or until the file size gets close to 2GB.
A rare option is that you are able to use the optical zoom while the
camera is recording.
