The FinePix J250 is equipped with a Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens with a 28-140 mm (35 mm equiv.) focal range. The maximum aperture range is from f/3.3 - 5.1. The lens retracts into the camera when powered down and is protected by a the included lens cap.
Auto focus is handled by a multi-zone, spot, or average zone options as well as single AF.
The focus range is:
- Normal: 2 ft. (0.6 m)-infinity at Wide or 3.9 ft. (1.2m) - infinity at Tele
Macro: .2 ft.-2.6 ft (0.05-0.8m) Wide, 2.3-4.9 ft. (.7-1.5 m) Tele

The built-in flash has modes for auto,
flash on, flash off, and red-eye reduction. The working range using ISO
400 is up to: Approx. 9.8 ft. (3m) (W), approx. 6.2 ft. (1.9m) (T),
Macro: 1-2.6 ft. (30-80 cm)(w), 2.3-4.9 ft. (70 cm-1.5 m)(t).

The top of the camera is very simple, with only the power button, shutter release and zoom controls found there.

The large 2.5-inch color LCD with 230,000 pixels of resolution serves as the viewfinder as well as for reviewing your images and movies and accessing the menu screens. In lower light conditions the LCD will "gain up" for better framing.

Controls on the back: At the top you will find the mode dial, easily
and quickly allowing you to change the cameras shooting mode. At the
bottom you will find the 4-way controller with shortcuts for LCD
brightness, Flash, Self timer and Macro shooting mode. In between these
two you will find the DISP. and Playback buttons.
On the right side of the camera is a USB 2 port that not only allows
you transfer your images to your computer, but also allows you to view
you slideshows and videos on a TV with the help of the optional AV
cable. At the bottom you can also see the loop for the Wrist Strap.

Still images and movie clips are stored on 23MB of internal flash memory or removable SD, SDHC, or MMC memory cards. Shown here with a SanDisk Ultra II 15MB/s 4GB SDHC card.

The J250 is powered by a 3.7V, 740mAh
rechargeable Li-Ion battery. Fuji claims that claims this battery is
capable of capturing up to 150 images on a single charge (CIPA).
