Bottom Line
The Fuji FinePix HS50 EXR is a versatile dSLR alternative that allows you to carry just this camera, no extra lenses required. Fuji's EXR II system is very powerful and delivers bold images with a slightly high level of image noise. Read more in our Full Conclusion.
Fujifilm's new flagship EXR camera, the HS50EXR boasts the world's fastest in-class autofocus (as of January 2013) as well as a 42x manually operated optical zoom and a 16-megapixel EXR-CMOS II image sensor. Thanks to Optical Image Stabilization and Phase Detection autofocus, extreme shots as well as Full HD movie recording are always crisp, in focus, and shudder free. Manual shooting controls and RAW image capture come straight from Fuji's pro dSLR cameras and, for those nervous about making mistakes, Focus Peaking (in manual mode) helps even the most novice shutterbug find true, sharp imagery in even then toughest shooting conditions.

If you like to enhance or stylize your photos, Fuji includes 10 film stock simulation effects, a multiple exposure mode, and Artistic Filters like Pop Color (which pushes contrast and saturates color), Toy Camera (which shades an image's borders), Miniature (an in-camera tilt-shit photography look), Dynamic Tone (creates a fantasy effect), Partial Color (which turns all but one selected color to black&white), High Key (enhances brightness and reduces contrast), Low Key (creates uniform dark tons and a few highlights), Cross screen (blasts starbursts around bright objects), and Soft Focus (like old school Hollywood movies).
