![]() The FinePix F470 is equipped with a Fujinon 3x optical zoom lens that provides for an equivalent focal range of 38 to 105mm. The maximum aperture is F2.8 to F4.9. The lens is retracted into the body on power down and has a built-in lens protector.
The auto focus system is a contrast type with a Normal range of
approx. 2.3ft / 70cm to Infinity. Macro - Closeup: Wide Angle: Approx. 3.9in/10cm to
2.6ft/80cm and Telephoto: approx. 1.3ft / 40cm to 2.6ft / 80cm.

The built-in flash has modes for: Auto, Red-eye Reduction, Forced Flash, Suppressed
Flash, Slow Synchro, Red-eye Reduction + Slow Synchro. The flash effective range
is from 2.3-15.1ft / 70cm-4.6m (Wide), 2.3-8.5ft / 70cm-2.6m (Tele),
1.0-2.6ft / 30-80cm (Macro) at ISO auto.
![]() The F470 lacks an optical viewfinder, the large 2.5-inch color TFT LCD monitor is used as the live viewfinder with 97% frame coverage. The LCD features an Auto Gain-Up mode for low-light use and the user can also press the trashcan button to manually activate this feature when needed.
Controls on the back:
The zoom lens controls are at the top.
The "green arrow" button puts the camera in review mode.
The "F" button enables
the Photo Mode menu to change image size/quality, ISO sensitivity and Color mode.
The 4-way selector is used for selecting images in review mode and accessing the menu
system. You press
"Up" to delete photos in playback and change the LCD brightness in
record mode, press
"Down" to
enable the self-timer, "Left" toggles the Macro focus on and off and the
Flash modes are controlled by pressing "Right."
The MENU/OK button calls up and dismisses the menu screens and accepts
selections.
The DISP/BACK button controls the amount of data on the LCD and lets you "back" out of
menu screens.

Controls on top: The main power button, the shutter release with the
Mode Dial around it. You select Auto record, Scene Program or Movie mode.

The F470 has ~16MB of internal memory and is equipped with a xD-Picture Card slot
that's compatible with any xD card from 16MB to 1GB. The battery is also located
in this compartment.
