The DXG-711 is equipped with a 3x zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent range of 38 - 114mm, the maximum aperture is f/3.1 - 5.9. When powered down the lens is retracted into the body and protected by a built-in lens cap.

This model also features a blur reduction system, which helps reduce blur in your photos caused by slight hand movement also know as camera shake.This function is found in the scene menu.

The DXG-711's Autofocus button has a focus range in normal of: 4 in. - infinity (wide) mode, or 2 ft. - infinity in (tele). In Macro mode it covers 2 in. - 2 ft. (wide) to 2 in. - 2.6 ft. (tele).

The built-in Flash has a range of approx. (Wide) 1.3 - 8.5 ft.; (Tele) 2 - 4.6 ft. and can be set for Auto Flash,force flash,off flash, Auto+Red-Eye Reduction.

The 2.5-inch color LCD serves as the viewfinder and is also used to review/share your images and movies as well as access the menu screens. The screen resolution is lower than average for this size display, ar only 115,000 pixels.

Controls on back:   The W-T is the zoom lens control and functions as the Index-Magnify control in playback. The Play button enters playback mode. The 4-way selector is for navigating menus and selecting pictures, press it straight in to accept selections. In record mode pressing it "Up" selects the flash mode, and "Right" changes the drive mode (Self-timer, Secquential mode, Video mode). Press "Down" to toggle the Focus mode or "Left" displays Review Information. The Menu button calls up and dismisses the menu system. Lastly, the Scene button allows you to use on of the 14 pre-programmed scene modes.

The DXG-711 is equipped with 23MB of internal memory and a SD/MMC memory card slot, no card is supplied with the camera. Images and movies can be copied from internal memory to SD card or vice-versa. It supports and SD/MMC card up to 2GB or SDHC cards up to 4GB.
