Concord 4360z

The 4360z uses a 3x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent 35-105mm) The maximum aperture is F 2.8-4.7. The digital zoom is 6x. The focus range in Normal AF is 50 cm (20") to infinity, in Macro it covers from 10 cm to 50 cm (4 to 20 inches). The optical zoom is disabled in macro mode, with the lens locked at full wide angle.

The auto focus system is contrast-type with a single AF point at the center of the image. The lens retracts into the camera body when powered down and has a builtin lens cap. The lens extends and retracts quickly, about two seconds is all it takes.

The eyelevel optical viewfinder is a real-image zoom type with a field of view ranging between 70-90% of the captured image, depending on focal length. It has no dioptric adjustment. Two LEDs indicate the flash and auto focus status when the shutter is half-pressed.

The flash has a limited range of less than 10 feet. Flash modes available are: Auto, Red-eye reduction, Fill flash, Night Mode or Off.

Controls on the back are minimal but effective. On the top left is the Movie/Play/Record sliding Mode switch. The MENU button calls up the onscreen menus. The 4-way selector for navigating menu screens, selecting images for playback, and controling camera operation. In the center is the OK button for accepting selections. Press "Up" to enable the self-timer (Delete images in Play mode). Press "Down" to change the Flash mode. The Right and Left buttons control the zoom (optical and digital); press Left to zoom to wide angle, and Right for telephoto. The Display button controls how much information is displayed on the LCD and also turns the LCD on and off.

The 1.5-inch color TFT LCD monitor is used as a viewfinder, to access the 4360's menu system, and to review images. Its refresh rate is 30fps when used as a live viewfinder, and it is equipped with an LCD backlight for improved viewing in bright conditions.

On the left side is the USB 1.1 port for uploading to the computer and the Video-out port. There is no provision for connecting an external power source.

The 4360z has 16MB of internal memory for picture storage and is equipped with a SD/MMC card slot located in the battery compartment. It's compatible with any capacity SD card from 16MB to 512MB.

Power is supplied by a pair of standard AA type batteries, NiMH rechargeable type is supplied and highly recommended. Concord made no claims about battery life.

Concord includes a set of 1800mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries and a compact battery charger. You can use alkaline type batteries in a pinch but they won't last nearly as long as the rechargeable type, possibly as low as only 20 shots!
