This is a view of the EX-Z800's standard Auto mode. All of the exposure processes are handled automatically in this mode. Here we also have access to settings like ISO, AF
mode, Exposure compensation, white balance, etc. The icons on the screen display most of your cameras settings for the pictures that will be taken. Shown above are
the AF frame, battery level indicator, Anti-Shake is set to Auto (shaky
symbol), number of frames remaining and along the right you can see
image mode (14m/Fine), Video resolution (HD), flash
mode (Off), etc. These settings can be accessed by the shortcut menu also. The displayed information can be eliminated by pressing DISP or "Up" on the 4-way pad. Pressing once will show date and time along with the above icons, press again and the LCD only shows the image (not shown above).
Giving the shutter release a half-press will bring the camera into "Rec Ready" mode. Here the camera will autofocus for you then calculate and lock in the exposure settings. If successful the AF mark will turn green (above) and if not the AF turns red (not shown).
Here we have the EX-Z800's Premium Auto mode. This is Casio's intelligent auto program that tries to help you achieve
the best image quality possible. The camera will select the best mode for you by recognizing the shooting
environment for each photo. While this is a great feature, it will be more
draining on the battery than shooting is standard Auto mode. It will also take the camera longer to process photos (meaning a slower shot-to-shot time).
Pressing the record button on the back of the camera will start recording a movie. Press again and the movie is stopped and stored as a .AVI file (Motion JPEG). While recording the optical zoom is disabled, although you can preset the desired focal length before recording starts or use
the digital zoom. Using the digital zoom is not recommended, due to a decline in your video quality.
The Casio EX-Z800 has 35 Best Shot Presets for a wide variety of
shooting conditions. These can be found in the shortcut menu below, the "BS" icon. You can also see a description of the mode that you choose by pressing the telephoto Zoom.
The shortcut menu is easily accessed by pressing the SET button. Using your 4-way pad up/down you can easily scroll through the list. Using left/right on the pad allows you to then customize your settings. Also found here is the Menu icon, which is entered by the SET button also.
