(Note: Unlike many of the past Casio models we have reviewed, the EX-Z700 does output
video in both record and playback mode)
Here you can see the Auto record mode screen. The image size is set to 7-megapixel (7m),
"F"ine image quality, Anti-shake is enabled (shaky figure icon), there's enough room for 175
more pictures and the battery is 2/3 full.
When you half-press the shutter release and the camera achieves focus and exposure lock, the
AF marks will turn green, and the ISO, aperture, and shutter values are displayed. When focus
fails, the AF marks will turn red (not shown.)
Pressing the display button toggles the amount of overlay information in both record and
playback modes. Here is the full information display with the live histogram.
Press the "BS" button to select the Record mode:
- Auto - Program AE snapshot mode
- Movie mode (see below)

When taking a shot of a
business card, document, whiteboard, or similarly shaped object from an angle,
it can cause the subject to appear angularly distorted. Business card/Document and White
board/etc. modes automatically correct the shape of rectangular objects to
make them appear like the camera was positioned directly in front of them.
Here is a screen showing the framing Grid display. You activated this via the
record menu. This is a helpful framing guide to ensure you get level shots.
The EX-Z700 can record high quality motion video with sound in three quality settings HG
640x480 (30fps), Normal 512x384 (30fps) or the smaller LP 320x240 (15fps) mode. The length is
only limited by the capacity of your memory card and the life of your battery. The optical
zoom can not be used while recording, but can be preset before. You can however, use the
digital zoom, but this will degrade the quality of the video.
The Z700 can also be used like an audio recorder. Approx. 25 minutes can be
recorded using the internal memory. When using optional memory card
the length is limited only by available memory, file size is 5.5KB per second.
