Snapshot record mode screen icons (starting in top-left and going CW): flash mode, white balance shade, self-timer, recording mode, digital zoom indicator, # of pictures remaining, image size, image quality, built-in memory or memory card, ISO speed, date and time, EV compensation, battery level, digital zoom factor.

A realtime histogram can be put on the screen in Record or Play mode by pressing the Display button.

The Best Shot mode is like scene mode in other cameras. The EX-M20 has 15 Best Shot scenes:   Portrait, Scenery, Portrait With Scenery, Coupling Shot, Pre-Shot, Pet, Flower, Natural Green, Sundown, Night Scene, Night Scene Portrait, Fireworks, Monochrome, Retro and Twilight.

One of the unique Best Shot modes is the Coupling Shot that allows two people to get into the same picture when there's no one else around to take the picture for you.

You can also record up to 30 second 320 x 240 resolution movie clips without sound. The built-in memory is sufficient for up to 80 seconds total of video or you can store up to 500 seconds on a 64MB card. Movies are saved as AVI motion JPEG at 130KB/sec.

    EV Shift - Adjust exposure compensation +/- 2.0EV in 1/3 steps
    White Balance - Auto, sunlight, shade , light bulb, fluorescent, manual
    ISO - Auto, 64, 125, 250, 500
    Digital Zoom - On, Off
    Review - Image review after capture - On, Off
    L/R Key - Assign a function to 4-way controller when in record mode: REC Mode, EV shift, White balance, ISO, Off
    U/D Key - Assign a function to 4-way controller when in record mode: REC Mode, Digital zoom, Flash, White balance, Off
Memory (Retain settings from power off to power on)

    Adjust - Set time or date
    Language - Menu language
    Auto Power Off - 2 min., 5 min.
    Format - Format the SD card
    Reset - Reset all to default




Playback Screens & Menus

Flipping the PLAY - REC switch to the PLAY position brings up the image or movie clip last captured. Pressing the 4-way controller left or right scrolls through the stored images. Pressing the Display button shows the histogram, shutter speed, aperture, ISO speed, white balance, flash mode and record mode.

Pressing the MENU button lets you start a Slideshow, display the calendar (see below), store an image in the Favorites folder, Create an Album, Embed DPOF printing info, Protect image(s) from deletion, Rotate portrait images, Resize images, Trim images, Set the Alarm or Copy images from internal memory to SD card or vice-versa.

This is what the playback screen looks like when you use the Zoom option. You can stop at any enlargement point and then scroll around.

You can also play back your movie clips in the camera.

Still images can be resized down to 1280x960 or 640x480 to make room for more pictures, email attachments or web page use.

The EX-M20 has 10MB of internal memory that can be used to store image data. You can use the COPY option to move data to/from the internal memory and to/from a SD flash memory card.

The Calendar feature in play mode will display a calendar page like this and the first picture that you take each day is displayed in the appropriate square.

The EX-M20 like many other Casio cameras lets you store your images in HTML-based photo albums. You can use the built-in templates to build several different styles of HTML albums.
