Canon has announced its newest SX-series PowerShot digital camera, the SX280 HS. The first Canon camera to include the enhanced DIGIC 6 image processor (other new cameras announced today still include the DIGIC 5), the SX280 boasts a 12.1 "High-Sensitivity" CMOS image sensor, a 20x optical zoom lens (25-500mm 35mm equivalent) and an improved Auto Focus (AF) system designed to reduce lag time and allow for up to 14 frames-per-second High-Speed Burst HQ shooting of stills.
HD Video fans will enjoy Full HD 1080p recording in the refined MPEG-4 (MP4) format, with selectable frame rates up to 60 frames per second. In addition to convenience features like Smart AUTO (chooses from one of 58 pre-defined modes to ensure proper exposure settings based on shooting conditions), the SX280 includes not one, but two Image Stabilization modes (Dynamic and Intelligent) to ensure crisp still photos and jitter-free video.
Other nice features include built-in GPS for tracking the location of all your new photo adventures, and Wi-Fi connectivity, which can be combined with Canon's CameraWindow App (available for both Android or iOS devices), Canon's iMAGE GATEWAY, and PictBridge-compatible Canon printers. There's also an ECO Mode to preserve and extend battery life for days when you won't have access to your charger.
