Playback Screens & Menus
The Playback button on the Canon G16 is near the viewfinder at the top of the back panel of the camera.
With a single image displayed on the screen, you will see basic information about the photo, including the file number in the upper right, and the sequential file number in the upper left. Along the lower portion of the screen, from left to right, you'll see the shutter speed, aperture, EV, ISO, and resolution setting.
Press the Disp button on the back of the camera to change the information displayed on screen. This detailed screen shows all of the data on the initial Playback screen, along with the date and time shot and a histogram in the upper right corner. The white balance and focus data appears near the bottom of the screen. The image will shrink to fit in the upper left corner.
If you press Disp again most of the data will be removed from the screen, but you'll see three additional histograms on the screen, one each for red, green, and blue.
Press Disp again and all of the data will be removed from the screen. If you press Disp again, the screen will return to the original look.
As with still images in Playback mode, you can see quite a bit of different data about the movies you've shot. Just press the Disp button on the back of the camera to change the view in Playback mode for the movie.
Whenever you see SET and the right pointing arrowhead in the upper left corner of the screen, press the Set button on the back of the camera to see the list of movie control buttons on the G16's LCD screen, allowing you to play back the movie.
Unlike the G15, Canon included built-in Wi-Fi capabilities with the PowerShot G16. To access the Wi-Fi options, open Playback mode and then press the Wi-Fi button (marked with a blue icon) on the back panel of the camera in the lower right corner. The Wi-Fi button is the button to the left in the pair of buttons.
In Wi-Fi mode you can pick the type of device to which you want to connect from the main screen. You may need to know passwords and device networking names to be able to make the connection work. Setting up the Wi-Fi can be a little tricky, especially for those who don't know anything about wireless networking.
While in Playback mode you can view the Playback and Print menus. (The Setup menu tab is on the far right.)
The Playback menu tab is marked with a play icon, and the options are:
