Here is the ELPH 100 HS in Automatic record mode, animating the different display options available. In auto mode the camera automatically chooses the best settings for your shot. Icons on screen indicate the exposure mode being used (AUTO), Flash is set to off, the battery level is full, ect.

This is the ELPH 100 HS in Program exposure mode, that gives the user more access to camera settings. In program mode the camera selects both the shutter speed and aperture for a correct exposure, but here you have access to a multitude of more advanced Function and Menu options; like metering, ISO, White balance, etc.

Half-pressing the shutter release will display which of the nine AF points (green rectangles) will be used for focus. If not able to focus the camera will not display the AF point/s. The aperture and shutter speed values are also shown along the bottom, with the ISO that the has been selected.

These are the animations of the screens displayed when pressing the 4-way pad in record mode. Up will display the exposure options, left is the focus mode options, right is the flash mode options, and down will change the information displayed while photographing an image.

The ELPH 100 HS can record movie clips with audio at a variety of resolutions. Canon offers Standard Definition movies at resolutions of 640x480 or 320x240, as well as, a High Definition resolution at 1280x720 and a Full HD resolution of 1920x1080. The frame rate is 30fps, with the exception of the Full HD which is 24fps. Optical zoom can NOT be used while recording, however you can preset the desired focal length before recording starts. These clips are captured in QuickTime format and saved as .MOV files.

Both the video and audio portion of movies can be replayed on the camera thanks to the built-in speaker. Full audio-video playback is also possible when connected to a TV monitor or a compatible PC after downloading.
