Auto mode allows anyone to pick up the camera and shoot. This mode automatically adjusts all of the camera's settings and picks the appropriate Scene mode for the current conditions. The only setting that the user is able to adjust is the flash.
The camera mode button on the back allows you to quickly and easily
change your shooting mode at any time. Your choices include Auto,
Program, SCeNe and Movie mode.

Program mode is also an automatic shooting mode, but it gives the photographer control over more of the camera's settings and functions. The camera will then adjust the exposure settings to match what you have chosen.

Movie mode on the A495 has the ability to record video with sound at resolutions of
640x480 or 320x240 at 30fps. The 3.3x optical zoom lens cannot be used
during recording, but can be set beforehand. Video recording is limited
to approx. 1 hour per video, no matter how large the memory card may be.
