In addition to the Cinema EOS system (EOS C300) debuting yesterday in Hollywood, Canon announced they are developing a new EOS SLR camera. Still a prototype, what's currently known as the EOS Movies SLR will be equipped with a 35mm full frame CMOS sensor and have the ability to record 4K video at 24 frames per section (using Motion-JPEG compression). It's also rumored to take 5K still images.
No availability or pricing specifics have been announced for the EOS Movies SLR. Heck, it doesn't even have a name or model number yet. But, one can imagine it will cost more than a 5D Mark II, but perhaps less than the EOS-1D X. Stay tuned for more details as we get them.
