Pressing the Playback button on the back of the camera allows you to view all of the images that are saved on the camera's memory cards. The INFO button allows you to change the amount of information that is shown about each image. As you can see in the screens above, there is plenty of info to be shown for each image.

Index mode allows you to view and select images based on the thumbnail images on the LCD screen. There are several levels, showing from 4 to 100 images at a time of the screen. This is a great way to search through a large number of images for a specific one.

Zooming in on an image is another great feature, that lets you check the focus and detail of your images without having to load them onto a computer. Once you have zoomed in, you can use the multi-controller to scroll around the image.




Dual image view allows you to compare images side-by-side, even compare images from the two different memory cards at the same time.

Playback Quick Menu:
  • Protect Images - Disable, Enable
  • Rotate - Change the orientation of an image 90° at a time
  • Erase Images - Select and Erase, All images in folder, All images on card
  • Print Order - Select image, By Folder, All images, Setup
  • Photobook Set-up - Select images, All images in folder, Clear all in folder, All images on card, Clear all on card
  • Image Copy - Copy images from one card to another
  • Raw Image Processing - Process RAW images to JPEG with in-camera processing tools
  • Cropping - Change Apect Ratio and zoom to crop
  • Resize - 13M, 7.5M, 2.5M, 0.3M
  • Rating - Give your images a rating of 1-5 stars
  • Slide Show - All images, Setup, Start
  • Image Transfer - Image sel./transfer, RAW+JPEG transfer (JPEG only, RAW only, RAW+JPEG), Transfer with caption
  • Image Jump w/main control dial - 1 image, 10 images, 100 images, Protected, Date, Folder, Movies, Stills, Rating
  • Highlight Alert - Disable, Enable
  • AF Point Display - Shows the focus points for the image
  • Playback Grid - Off, 3x3, 6x4, 3x3+diag
  • Histogram Disp. - Brightness, RGB
  • Movie Play Count - Rec time, Time code
  • Magnification - 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 10x, Actual Size, Same as last magnification
  • Control over HDMI - Enable, Disable

Cropping allows you to "trim" your images inside the camera. Adjusting the green box on your image lets you see you new area and allows you to keep or change your aspect ratio.

Resize lets you save a smaller copy of an image that is already on the memory card. This is an easy way to make smaller, shareable copies of your images that are ready for social media and/or email.

Videos can be played back on the LCD screen as well as any 4K/HDTV with the assistance of an optional HDMI cable. The camera offers frame-by-frame control, letting you see every detail. Audio is also available on the camera or with an optional headset when not viewing on a HDTV.

Frame grab allows you to save an individual frame from a video as a still image.

The 5D Mark IV even offers some basic trimming features so you can cut out the access from your videos.

  • Record func+card/folder sel. - Choose the record function, folder and memory card to save your images
  • File numbering - Continuous, Auto reset, or Manual reset
  • File Name - Preset code, User settings 1-2
  • Auto rotate - Enable auto rotation of portrait mode images in camera, on computer or both
  • Format - Format the CF card
  • Auto power off - 1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30 minutes or Off
  • LCD brightness - LCD back light intensity, 7 levels and Auto
  • LCD Color Tone - Warm, Standard, Cool 1, Cool 2
  • Date/Time/Zone - Set date and time
  • Language - Sets the menu language
  • Viewfinder Display - Turn on/off display, electronic level and grid display
  • Touch Control - Standard, Sensitive, Disable
  • Video system - NTSC or PAL video output
  • Battery Info - Displays %, shutter count and recharge performance
  • Sensor cleaning - Choose when the Sensor is cleaned: Auto, Clean Now, Clean Manually
  • INFO. Button Display Options - Choose any of the 4 screens to display: Camera Settings, Electronic Level, Quick Control screen, Custom Quick Control screen
  • Custom Quick Control - Choose the settings and layout for the Custom Quick Control screen
  • INFO. Button LV Display Options - Live View info switch, Histogram Disp.
  • RATE btn function - Rating, Protect
  • HDMI Frame Rate - Auto, 59.94i, 59.94p, 23.98p
  • GPS Settings - Contorl all of the camera's GPS Settings
  • Communication Settings - Built-in Wireless Settings, FTP Transfer Settings
  • Multi Function Lock - Choose the control
  • Custom Shooting Mode (C1-C3) - Register settings, Clear settings, Auto update set. (Disable, Enable)
  • Clear all camera settings - Clear all camera or Custom Function settings
  • Copyright information - Display copyright information for: Author's name, enter details, delete copyright information
  • Certification Logo Display - Shows camera certification logos
  • Firmware Ver. - Display camera firmware rev#, can be user-updated
