Canon EOS 10D SLR Review
By Movable Type Admin
Pressing the (Play) button brings up the last image
stored full screen on the LCD. The current folder and file number is in the upper right
corner, down in the lower left is the current image number and total number of images.
While viewing a picture full screen you can press the INFO button to see all the exposure details. The current image is displayed as a hi-res thumbnail with a histogram to show the dynamic range, the ISO equivalent, the recording mode, shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, white balance, metering mode, image size and quality, time and date.
Another feature of the info-playback thumbnail is that it will "blink" the area of the
image that it deems will be overexposed. You can use this as a visual warning that you
might need to adjust exposure compensation and re-shoot the picture.
Pressing the (Index-Reduce) button will bring up a
thumbnail preview index so you can quickly select an image to display. Pressing the
Jump button enables you to move a page at a time through the stored images, your
position is indicated by the slider graphic in the lower right.
Press the (Enlarge) button to go into Zoom-Playback mode, each time you press the button
the image is magnified more until you reach the maximum of 10x. You then scroll around
inside of the image by rotating the quick select dial. To change from the left-to-right direction
to the top-to-bottom scrolling mode press the (Direction) button.
Use the Auto Rotate menu option to display portrait mode images on
the LCD (and TV) in correct orientation. The camera has an orientation
sensor built in that will detect when it is used in vertical mode
and embeds this data in the header of the image file. The Canon Image
File Viewer and ZoomBrowser also use this data to properly display images.
The Protect mode lets you tag an image so that it cannot be accidentally deleted.
