As noted previously, the 10D is comprised of two sections, the camera with
the exposure controls and the digital imaging section. Here's the color
LCD and the control buttons for the digital half of the 10D.
Menus are navigated by
turning the large Quick Selection Dial. You accept menu selections by
pressing the SET button in the center. Using custom
functions the SET button can also perform other tasks. The On/Off
switch (above the dial) allows the quick selection dial to be used
to make changes to the camera section options when the menu is not
displayed. The (Delete) button is for
erasing images. The lower On/Off switch turns the camera power on and off.
Pressing the (Index-Reduce) button displays a 9-thumbnail
preview index so you can quickly select an image to display.
Press the (Enlarge) button to select an index image for
full-screen display, press it again to go into Zoom-Playback mode. Each time you press the button
the image is magnified more until you reach the maximum of 10x.

INFO - In record it displays all camera and exposure settings, in playback
it displays camera and exposure data at time of capture

Pressing the INFO button while in record mode brings up a screen full of settings
and parameters currently in use. One of the handiest is the amount of space (in MB)
left on the storage device - there's a 640MB CF card in there.

The Custom White Balance is set by shooting a picture of a white card
that fills the center circle on the viewfinder. When you select the Custom WB option
from the menu it asks you which stored image you want to use to calibrate the color
temperature. You can keep these pictures and use them later if you work in the
same lighting conditions frequently.

You can create 3 sets of parameters with any combination of contrast, sharpness,
saturation and color tone adjustments and then recall them when desired. Each of
these parameters have settings for -2, -1, 0, +1, +2.
