7/5/2018 UPDATE: Our 2 WINNERS have been announced — HERE !
6/27/2018 UPDATE: Our 10 FINALISTS have been announced — HERE — are you one of them?
6/20/2018 UPDATE: The entry period for this contest is now OVER. Feel free to submit your work to our Photo of the Day, of course, but no future submissions will be considered for this specific contest.
Exciting news, folks! We’ve partnered with Tamron USA to host the Steve’s Digicams Summer Photo Contest where two talented photographers will each win one new Tamron lens.
Nothing says summer like getting out to explore the world. For this photo contest, we want you to submit your best TRAVEL-themed photos. Maybe you like backpacking around Europe. Maybe you enjoying hitting the open road to drive across the country. Or, maybe you’re more of a staycationer who likes walking in the woods behind your home or strolling through the farmers’ market down the block.
Tell us a story, paint it with light, and show us where you love to go to get away from the daily grind.
The Steve’s Digicams staff, acting as judges, will award two photographers with one lens each. Everyone else could earn a day featured as the Steve’s Digicams Photo of the Day!
FIRST PLACE will receive one Tamron 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD ($799 MSRP)
The Tamron 100-400mm F4.5-6.3 — full review HERE — is available for Canon and Nikon DSLRs, although we have seen folks use adapters (NOT included if you win) on Sony systems. Model A035 boasts a 100-400mm full-frame zoom range (~160mm-640mm for APS-C) as well as a maximum F4.5 aperture at 100mm and F6.3 at 400mm. With a minimum focus distance of 1.5m, the Tamron 100-400m features a 9-blade aperture, four stops of vibration compensation, and weighs around 40 oz. In our testing, we fell in love with its colors, contrast, and creamy bokeh. It’s a terrific, affordable lens for anyone shooting action, sports, weddings, wildlife, or portraits.
The Tamron SP 45mm F1.8 — full review HERE — is an excellent portrait prime for Canon, Nikon, and Sony camera systems. With a 40mm full-frame focal length (70mm for APS-C, 90mm for M4/3), Model F2013 boasts an F1.8 maximum aperture, an 11.4-inch minimum focus distance, a 9-blade aperture, and weighs around 19 oz. Vibration Compensation is also built-in, but only for Canon and Nikon mounts. Sony shooters will have to rely on their cameras with in-body image stabilization. In our testing, we found the lens to be very sharp with excellent colors and delicious bokeh, making the lens an excellent overall value. If you shoot portraits or street photography, the Tamron SP 45mm F1.8 is a great option.
