Exciting news, folks! We’ve partnered with Tamron USA to host another photography contest where one lucky winner will win a brand new Tamron telephoto zoom lens!
The theme for this contest is TELEPHOTO PHOTOGRAPHY. Whether you’re traveling and want to see some far-off historical monument OR shooting portraits and you want to isolate your subject OR photographing wildlife in the air, land, and sea, telephoto prime and zoom lenses are an essential part of every shutterbug’s kit.
How does one define telephoto photography? Simple! It’s an image created using a 60mm or greater focal length. So to participate in this contest, you just need to be using lens that’s 60mm or longer. Lot’s of folks have 85mm portrait lenses. And 70-200mm zoom lenses are the quintessential telephoto zooms. And you can go longer as well. Own a 600mm lens? Perfect. Heck, even if you only own a 24-70mm lens, as long as you’re zoomed out to 60mm or great, you’re good to go.
And, just to make things extra clear, let’s call it 60mm or greater on a full-frame camera. If you’re shooting with any crop-sensor camera, just make sure you’re at a 60mm-equivalent or greater focal length taking into account your crop factor. (Need to know more about crop-factor? No problem, we have a quick guide right HERE.)
The Steve’s Digicams staff, acting as judges, will award one talented photographer with one Tamron 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD ($799 MSRP). Everyone else could earn a day featured as the Steve’s Digicams Photo of the Day!
The Tamron 100-400mm F4.5-6.3 — full review HERE — is available for Canon and Nikon DSLRs. Model A035 boasts a 100-400mm full-frame zoom range (~160mm-640mm for APS-C) as well as a maximum F4.5 aperture at 100mm and F6.3 at 400mm. With a minimum focus distance of 1.5m, the Tamron 100-400m features a 9-blade aperture, four stops of vibration compensation, and weighs around 40 oz. In our testing, we fell in love with its colors, contrast, and creamy bokeh. It’s a terrific, affordable lens for anyone shooting action, sports, weddings, wildlife, or portraits.
