Rotating the Mode dial to the GUIDE position will bring up the built-in Shooting Guide on the
LCD screen. It provides a detailed descriptions of various photographic scenarios, and will also
set the camera with the touch of a button.
This is a great way to learn some creative and artistic photographic techniques.
Here you can see the typical record mode screen. The "AUTO" indicates Auto exposure mode, along the bottom you see the image size (8 megapixel) and quality (Fine) and the number of images left of the memory card (511).
When you half-press the shutter release it starts the autofocus process and if it locks, you will see the AF target marks turn green
(orange in using Face Detection AF) and the camera will sound a focus locked beep. The "red lightning bolt" icon indicates the flash is
charged and ready. IF AF fails, the AF marks will turn Red.

Digital Image Stabilization mode is also located on the Mode dial (shaky hand symbol) and uses
Olympus' Bright Capture technology, which boosts the ISO sensitivity. This keeps shutter speeds
higher in order to reduce the blurring effects of camera shake or subject movement during the
exposure. Image size is not reduced when using this feature.
Program mode doesn't look any different on the screen, but it allows you more control such as ISO settings.
Auto Func. Menu:
ISO - Auto, 64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 Image Size - 8 megapixel, 5 megapixel, 3 megapixel, 2 megapixel, 1 megapixel, VGA (640x480),
Pressing the 4-way controller Up, Left, Down or Right allows you to quickly change settings
for Exposure compensation, Macro/SuperMacro focus mode, Self-timer, and Flash mode.
Rotating the dial to the scene modes gives you a big selection of preset scene shooting modes: Night+Portrait, Night Scene, Sport, Indoor, Candle, Self Portrait, Sunset, Fireworks, Behind Glass, Cuisine, Documents, Auction and Smile Shot. Don't forget that Portrait and Landscape are located on the dial itself.
Press the MENU button to bring up the Record mode shortcut menu. You can use this menu to
quickly change image resolution, reset all settings to factor defaults, enable Silent mode,
change the scene mode (when set to the SCN position on the mode dial) as well as enter the
Camera and Setup menus.

Movie mode lets you capture VGA (640x480), QVGA (320x240) resolution motion video with sound both at either 15/fps or 30/fps. The
length of a movie is limited to just 10 seconds when shooting in VGA 30/fps. The optical zoom is not functional while recording,
however, you may preset the desired focal length before recording starts. The Digital zoom feature is usable while recording, but we urge
you to use it sparingly as it degrades the video quality. Clips are saved in AVI Motion JPEG
(.AVI) format.
