The animation above shows how to set the resolution control which is symbolized by the 10m icon at the bottom left of the screen. Highlight the menu using the button directly below the icon and a secondary menu overlays to show the settings available for that mode. Then you use the buttons on the right of the screen to "cross-hair" over the setting you need and select it. It's easy after you do it once and all the menus that follow are navigated the same way.

Turning the Mode Selector dial scrolls though the 8 settings: Auto, Program, Manual, Advanced Shake Reduction, Special Effect, Scene, Movie Clip and Photo Gallery. After selecting the mode you utilize buttons around the LCD screen to customize features within that mode. The modes each have an icon on the dial and that icon will appear in the upper right of the LCD and will change as the mode selection changes.

Record mode settings vary, depending on the position of the Mode dial. In the examples below you will notice each screen will show different icons, demonstrating what features can be customized in each mode.

Here you can see the Auto or “point & shoot” mode. Notice the Icon in the upper right of the screen matched the Auto mod icon on the mode dial. Information on this screen, on top from left to right, show the battery charge level, the memory card icon, the number of exposures possible and the date and time. Six setting can me customized while in this mode: On the right side of the LCD screen, below the Mode indicator, you will find Color Temperature and Contrast setting icons. On the bottom left are the Auto Focus/Auto Macro, the Red Eye Reduction and Image Resolution icons. In the lower right is the setup menu icon. Also you can see a long bar on the left that is a wide angle/zoom indicator.

Program mode allows you to configure almost all camera options, except Aperture and Shutter Speed. You can change the White Balance, ISO Setting, Advanced Flash Mode, Capture Mode, Metering Mode, Exposure Compensation and Sharpness.

Manual Mode allows you to set both the aperture value and the shutter speed. All functions from Program Mode are available.

Samsung has provided some fun Special Effects on the NV15. Photo Frames let you apply 9 types of frame-like borders to your photos. The Motion GIF selection allows you to create animated GIFs directly in the camera. Also interesting is Composite Shooting. Using the in-camera controls you can combine different shots into one image. The Composite Shooting selection will combine 2, 3, or 4 still images or 2 panoramic images into one shot.

There are 11 Scene modes to choose from (portrait, Children, Landscape, Text, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, and Night), which make it easier to shoot in a variety of conditions. In the screen shot above, you can see an example of Close Up mode; indicated by the common flower icon.

Photo Gallery Mode. Here you can create photo albums in this mode but only still images can be added to an album. After adding images to an album, you can add transitions and play back a slideshow on the camera.
