Kodak provides a setup CD that installs the Windows (or Macintosh) printer driver and the EasyShare software application. Let's examine the Windows printer driver settings first.

The Kodak 5500 AiO's driver gives you control of printer functions. By opening the Printing Preferences you'll see three tabs, General, Layout and Advanced. I believe Kodak has developed a nice, friendly software tool to control the 5500.

Layout tab: This page allows you to chose different print Layouts: Normal, Multi-page, Poster or Booklet. Also you can Scale pages, have them Fit to your Page size and Mirror images. You'll notice that Duplex printing can be engaged from the Layout tab.

Advanced tab: On this page you can make the 5500 print in Color or Black & White, print a Watermark, select Paper Type or change the default Color Space from SRGB to Adobe RGB. As I mentioned, the Ink Level indicator is also on this tab and, for your convenience, an Order button that will take you to Kodak's web site.

Let's take a look at these tabs, 1 at a time.

My Collection is your organization and photo browser page. You can Add Pictures, create Albums, Edit photos, Burn a CD/DVD, create a Slide Show and Upload images from this page.

Print at Home is the second tab. This page is designed to facilitate printing on your 5500 EasyShare printer. You will select your desired Paper Size, Borderless or not, Print Layout and - a little something special - Kodak Perfect Touch. This feature automatically corrects for common image flaws and "mistakes," such as dark shadows, and backlighting. Kodak Perfect Touch technology also enhances photos for vibrant color and richer detail. Check it out.

Selecting the Email tab lets you register with Kodak's online web gallery services and helps you attach photos to an email.

The Order Prints Online tab lets you setup online services where you can order prints and photo gifts for delivery.

EasyShare's Creative Projects tab contains controls to design Greeting Cards. After designing your card you can Save and Print them.

And finally the EasyShare Center tab provides easy access to Product Support, Registration services, accessory discounts and Kodak Gallery online.

Note: The Macintosh versions of the Kodak software and drivers were not tested in this review.
