When you half-press the shutter you will see which of the nine AF points (green rectangles)
were used for the focus lock.
Manual exposure mode is like Auto in that the camera selects both the shutter speed
and aperture for a correct exposure but you now have access to a multitude of
Function and Menu options.
Pressing the Face Priority mode button enables Face Detection AF, which will lock on to and follow human
faces in the frame to help you achieve the best portrait results.
Manual mode Function options: White Balance - Auto, Day Light, Cloudy, Fluorescent, Fluorescent CWF, Incandescent, Custom one-push WB set ISO - Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 Image Quality - Normal*, Fine**, Best*** Image Resolution - 8M, 7M (3:2), 6M (16:9), 5M, 3M, 2M, 1M, 0.3M Color Mode - Off, Vivid, Sepia, and B&W
Manual mode MENU options:
AF Assist Beam - On or Off Continuous AF - On or Off Digital Zoom - Standard, Off, 1.6x, or 2.0x Exposure Metering - AiAE, Center-weight, or Spot Continuous Shot - Off, 5 Shots, 5 Shots (last) or Time-lapse Grid - Framing grid display, On or Off Quick Review - 1, 2, or 3 seconds Digital Zoom - On or Off Histogram display - On or Off Slow Shutter - Off, or manually choose the shutter speed from 2 - 30 seconds
The camera has a very respectable macro focusing mode with coverage from 2.0 in. (5cm) at wide angle or 1.3 ft.
(40cm) at telephoto.
Rotating the Mode dial to the SCN position give you access to these scene modes. These are
pre-programmed to give you the best possible pictures for a wide variety of different
shooting situations. A brief description of the modes intended purpose is also shown to help
beginners choose the appropriate mode to use.
You can record movie clips with audio at 640x480 or 320x240 with frame rates of 30 or 15
fps. Movies are captured in MPEG4 format and saved as .MOV files. Both the video and audio
portion of movies can be replayed on the camera thanks to the built-in speaker. Full audio-
video playback is also possible when connected to a TV monitor or a compatible PC after
downloading.
