The Auto record mode is a simple "Point-n-Shoot" mode. The line of info across the top
starts on the left with a red box saying "auto" which is the symbol for
Auto Record mode. The "9M" represents image resolution of 9 megapixels, the "F" indicates
Fine compression (quality), and "197" represents the number of frames that can be recorded at
the current image size. The yellow and gray brackets in the center show the autofocus target
area.
Half-pressing the shutter releases locks the autofocus, flash setting and exposure.
Press the DISPlay button to toggle to other display modes, like the grid overlay and displaying no information.
AUTO record MENU options:
ISO - Auto, 100, 200 or 400 QUALITY - Choose image size/quality; 7M Fine, 7M Normal, 3:2 (7M mode for 4x6" prints), 4M, 2M, 0.3M SETUP - Enter setup menu
This is the Manual record screen (Shown with grids on). The only real difference between Auto
an Manual mode, is you have access to White Balance and Exposure Compensation
options. When these options are used, an Icon representing the selected WB will be
displayed next to the "M", and the EV compensation will be displayed in the bottom middle (not shown).

Auto - automatic settings based on shooting conditions Baby Mode - Suitable for babies, natural skin tone without a flash Picture Stabilization - Reduces camera shake and motion blur Red Eye Reduction - Minimize subject red eye Digital Zoom - 3x digital zoom Portrait - Soft overall tone, with beautiful skin tones Manual - Automatic mode with several manual overrides Movie - Movie recording with sound
The Macro focus mode can be enabled in Auto or Manual shooting mode and
allows you to focus from 3.9 inches to 2.6 feet. The optical zoom can be used in macro mode.
The Movie record mode display. The top info line indicates the movie
recording size is 320x240 followed by the remaining recording time (25m33s) at this
quality setting. The A900 records motion video with audio at a resolution of
320x240. Since audio is recorded, the optical zoom is locked
during movie recording.
