The FinePix A700 is equipped with a Fujinon 3x optical zoom lens that provides for an equivalent focal range of 36 to 108mm. The maximum aperture is F2.8 to F5.2. The lens is retracted into the body when powered down and has a built-in lens protector.

The autofocus system is a contrast type with a Normal range of approx. 1.6 ft. to infinity. Macro close-up range at Wide Angle is approx. 3.9 in. to 2.6 ft.

The built-in flash has modes for: Auto, Red-eye Reduction, Forced Flash, Suppressed Flash, Slow Synchro, Red-eye Reduction + Slow Synchro. The flash effective range is from 1.6 - 12.5 ft (Wide), 2.0 - 6.6 ft (Tele), 1.0 ft - 2.6 ft (Macro).

The 2.4-inch color TFT LCD monitor has 112,000 pixels of resolution and an anti-glare coating. It is the only viewfinder with only 91% frame coverage. It is also used to review your captured images and movies and to access the camera's menus.

Controls on the back: The 4-way selector/zoom control are used for selecting images in review mode, accessing the menu system as well as controlling the zoom level. In record mode you press the "Left" button to toggle Macro focus on and off and the Flash modes are controlled with the "Right" button. Pressing it "Up" and "Down" moves the lens from wide angle to telephoto. The "green arrow" button puts the camera in review mode. The MENU/OK button calls up and dismisses the menu system and accepts selections. The DISP/BACK button controls the amount of data on the LCD and lets you "back" out of menu screens.

The USB 1.1 port is for data I/O - a PictBridge compatible printer can also be connected to the USB port for direct-printing.


Video Out port which allows connection to a TV for playback, the format is selectable for NTSC or PAL standard.


The 3v DC INput jack is for an optional AC power adapter.

The A700 includes 12MB of internal flash memory and is equipped with an xD-Picture Card slot. It's compatible with any xD card from 16MB to 2GB. The batteries are also located in this compartment.

Approximate Storage Capacities

Power is supplied by a pair of standard AA batteries (alkaline one-use or rechargeable NiMH type). According to Fuji, off the shelf alkalines will let you capture up to 100 pictures, while 2500mAh NiMH cells deliver as many as 300 pictures per charge.
