The Auto record mode is a simple "Point-n-Shoot" mode. The line of
info across the top starts on the left with a red box containing a camera
icon and "AUTO" for Auto Record mode. The "5M" represents
image resolution of 5 megapixels, "F" indicates Fine
compression, and "196" is the number of remaining frames.
The yellow brackets in the center denotes the
auto focus target area.
Half-pressing the shutter release locks the autofocus, white balance and exposure.
Pressing the DISPlay button toggles: No overlay information, overlay information,
framing grid lines or the unique PostShot display shown here with the previous 3
images captured on the left and the live view on the right.
This is the Manual record mode which lets you select values for many exposure
options - see menu below. Shown here we have set the White Balance and Exposure
Compensation.
Manual record menu options:
SHOOTING MODE - Choose shooting mode (see below)
EXP. COMPENSATION - Override metering ±2.0EV in 0.3 steps
WHITE BALANCE - Auto, Daylight, Shade, "Daylight" Fluorescent,
"Warm White" Fluorescent, "cool white" Fluorescent, Incandescent
HIGH-SPEED SHOOTING - Continuous exposure mode; on or off
AF MODE - Center or Multi
SET - enter the SETUP menu
The still image recording mode is selected from: Auto, Manual, Natural Light,
Portrait, Landscape, Sports or Night.
Pressing the blue "F" button brings up the PhotoMode menu where you
can select the following parameters:
QUALITY - 5M Fine, 5M Normal, 3:2
(5M mode for 4x6" prints), 3M, 2M, 0.3M
ISO - Auto or 64, 100, 200, 400, 800
COLOR MODE - Standard, Chrome (vivid), B&W
The Macro focus mode can be enabled in Auto or Manual shooting mode
and allows you to focus from approx. 3 inches to 2.6 feet depending on focal length.
Movie record mode, the recording size can be 640x480 or 320x240 @ 30fps
with sound. The length depends on space available on the xD Card, see chart
below.
The optical zoom lens can be set before recording begins but not during.
Set-Up Menu:
IMAGE DISP. - Off, 1.5 or 3 seconds
SHUTTER VOLUME - Shutter sound-fx volume
BEEP VOLUME - Volume of camera sounds, Low/High/Off
PLAYBACK VOLUME - Volume of movies or voice memos
FRAME NO. - Continuous or reset (file numbering)
LCD BRIGHTNESS - LCD brightness
DIGITAL ZOOM - Digital zoom on or off
AUTO POWER OFF - Off, 2 min. or 5 min.
LCD POWER SAVE - On or Off, darkens LCD when camera is not used
FORMAT - Format the xD Card
DATE/TIME - setting of date and time
TIME DIFFERENCE - World time offset
LANGUAGE - English/French/German
BACKGROUND COLOR - Menu screen color scheme
USB MODE - DSC(download to a PC) / PictBridge(direct print)
VIDEO SYSTEM - NTSC or PAL video signal timing
RESET - resets all camera settings to default.
