Click to take a QTVR tour of the S60 The 5-Megapixel PowerShot S60 camera is equipped with a redesigned 3.6x zoom lens that goes from a wide-angle focal length of 28mm to a telephoto of 100mm (35mm film equivalent). This new lens features an Ultra high refractive index, which makes it thin and compact. The Ultra high refractive index Aspherical (UA) lens allows for a 28mm wide angle zoom while increasing image quality and slimming the body of the camera for a sleek design. Armed with a faster start up time, the S60 sports a variety of enhanced features that make it stand out from the crowd. Notably, the macro function allows photographers to shoot a subject from as close as 1.6 inch. The optional Tele-converter extends the focal length to 200mm. In order to increase the amount of photographs users can capture, Canon developed a new high-capacity Li-ion battery, the NB-2LH model, which offers approximately 26% more capacity than the previous lithium-ion battery. Advanced features include a full range of exposure modes; Program AE with Shift, Shutter speed-priority, Aperture-priority, Full Manual, AE Bracketing and a host of pre-programmed "Image Zone" modes. A 9-Point AiAF autofocus system with manual focus option, nine White Balance settings including Underwater, three selectable metering modes, multi-mode flash with selectable Second-Curtain sync modes and an improved VGA Movie Mode that captures clips up to 30 secs. in length (320x240 or 160x120 up to 3 minutes). The S60 provides users with a simple and effective way of creating very high-quality prints without the need for a computer. The camera can be directly connected to one of Canon's optional Card Photo Printers (CP-100, CP-200, CP-300), Bubble Jet Direct Photo Printers or any PictBridge compatible printer. The S60 features an optional underwater housing, WP-DC40. Designed for capturing fabulous underwater photos while snorkeling, in the pool, or to protect the camera while boating or on the beach, the housing will be available in June 2004 for an estimated street price of $240US. To capture the best underwater shots the S60 includes a new “underwater” preset for the white balance. This sets the camera to the correct white balance for underwater shooting so users can capture the most accurate colors possible.
