The DiMAGE X50 is an automatic "point-n-shoot" type camera, the exposure is
handled by a Programmed AE system. The white brackets in the center indicate
where the autofocus zone is located. Other icons indicate flash mode, image
size and quality, drive mode and the approx. number of pictures remaining.
Sliding the Mode switch to the Portrait/Scene position gives you access to these
pre-programmed scene modes: Portrait, Sports, Landscape Portrait, Beach,
Super Macro, Night Portrait, and Text.
The DiMAGE X50 has a very respectable macro focusing capability. The normal
focusing range is from 3.9 inches to infinity at all focal lengths. If you
need to get even closer, simply select Super Macro mode and get as close as
2.4-inches.
The Multi frame capture mode lets you record 9 successive images with one
push of the shutter release. These images are then saved as one 2560 x 1920
size image.
