The C-7000 sports an Olympus 5x zoom lens with a 7.8 - 39.5mm (38 - 190mm in 35mm equivalent) focal length. The aperture is variable from f2.8/4.8 - f8.0 (adjustable in 1/3 EV steps). This is an all-glass lens constructed of 9 elements in 7 groups with 2 aspherical lenses. The lens retracts into the body when powered down and is protected by a built-in lens cap.

The C-7000 has an auto focus range of 47" - Infinity (1.2m - Infinity) in Normal mode and 3.2" - 24" (8cm - 60cm) in Macro mode. It also features Super Macro mode which lets you get as close as 0.8" (2cm) from the lens when in wide-angle position. To aid in focusing in dim lighting the camera features a focus-assist illuminator.

The manual popup flash has modes for: Auto (for low light and backlit conditions), Red-eye Reduction, Fill-in, Slow, Red-eye Reduction + Slow and Forced Off. The maximum flash range is: Wide/Tele 5m/3.5m (at ISO Auto).

The C-7000 employs an eye level optical viewfinder, most 5x and bigger zoom cameras use electronic viewfinders. It does not have any dioptric adjustment. The LED's indicate focus lock and tell you the status of the flash.

Controls on top are the Power button and shutter release with the zoom lens control mounted around it. The zoom lever also functions as the index and zoomed playback control while in play mode.

Controls on the back: Across the top is the AE/AF lock (Delete in playback), the Selftimer/Remote button (DPOF in playback) and the Flash mode button (Protect in playback.) The Mode Dial has positions for Program AE, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual, My Mode, Scene, Movie and Playback. Pressing the AEL button locks exposure (Image rotate in playback.) The Quick View button lets you recall the last image captured quickly.. The 4-way "Arrow Controls" are used for navigating menus, changing settings and selecting playback images. The OK button accepts menu selections and calls up the menu.

On the right side is the combo Audio-Video Out (selectable NTSC or PAL format) and USB 2.0 data port. On the left side is the DC INput for AC adapter or battery pack

The C-7000 uses a xD-Picture card for storing images. It ships with a 32MB xD-Picture Card and is compatible with any capacity xD-Picture Card.

The C-7000 is powered by a proprietary Olympus LI-12B 3.7v 1230mAh lithium rechargeable battery pack. The small LI-10C 110-240V AC charger is included and charges the battery in 120 minutes or less.
