The C-60 sports an Olympus aspherical glass 3x zoom lens with a 38 - 114mm (35mm equivalent) focal length. The aperture is variable from f2.8 - f8.0 (adjustable in 1/3 EV steps).

The C-60 has a respectable auto focus range of 15.7" - Infinity (0.4m - Infinity) in Normal mode and 1.9" - 19.7" (4.8cm - 50cm) in Macro mode. It also features Super Macro mode which lets you get as close as 1.6" from the lens and is fixed in wide-angle position.

This is an Olympus "clam shell" type camera. The lens retracts into the body when powered down and the front cover slides over to protect it. The camera is powered up automatically when the front cover is opened.

Built in multi-mode intelligent speed light; Auto (automatic flash activation in low light and back light), red-eye reduction, fill-in (forced activation), Slow Shutter Sync (first curtain), Slow Shutter Synch (first curtain) w/red-eye reduction, off (no flash).

Working flash range (at ISO 64): Wide: 7.8" - 9.8' (0.2m - 3.0m), Tele: 1' - 6.6' (0.3m - 2.0m)

The C-60 has a good eye level optical viewfinder, it does not have any dioptric adjustment. The LED's indicate focus lock and tell you the status of the flash.

Controls on top are the shutter release with the zoom lens control mounted to the right. The zoom lever also functions as the index and zoomed playback control while in play mode. On the left is the Mode Dial with positions for AUTO, Program AE, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual, My Mode, Movie, Scene, Night Shot, and Portrait Mode.

Controls on the back: Flash mode/Delete button and Focus & Metering mode/Protect button at the top left. The Play button turns the camera on in Playback mode and functions as Quick Review in record mode. The 4- way "Arrow Controls" are used for navigating menus, changing settings and selecting playback images. The OK button accepts menu selections and calls up the menu.

On the right side are the I/O ports: Audio-Video Out (selectable NTSC or PAL format), USB 2.0 data port and DC INput for AC adapter or battery pack

The C-60 uses a xD-Picture card for storing images. It ships with a 32MB xD-Picture Card and is compatible with any capacity xD-Picture Card.

The C-60 is powered by a proprietary Olympus LI-12B 3.7v 1230mAh lithium rechargeable battery pack. The small LI-10C 110-240V AC charger is included and charges the battery in 120 minutes or less.
