In Program AE mode the camera selects the best combination of both shutter speed
and aperture automatically. Icons indicate flash mode, image size and quality,
ISO speed if other than automatic, metering mode, shutter speed, aperture, drive mode
and # of pictures remaining.
In Shutter priority mode you set the shutter speed desired to freeze rapid action or
blur motion and the camera automatically selects the proper aperture setting.
In Aperture priority you set the desired aperture for control of depth of field and
the camera will automatically match the proper shutter speed.
In Manual mode you have control of both the shutter speed and aperture value.
The Z1 in Macro mode focuses as close as 3.9 inches in Wide
and 47.2 inches in Telephoto. The Super Macro setting will get you as close as 1.6
inches from the lens.

In Movie mode you can record motion video at 15fps or 30fps with or without audio. The image size can be VGA (640x480), 320x240 or 160x120. The length of video clips at 640x480 (30fps) can be up to 30 seconds, 640x480 (15fps), 320x240 or 160x120 are limited only by the amount of available memory on your SD card.
Because the DiMAGE Z1 can capture large, high-quality VGA (640 x 480) movies, image
sharpness and brightness is very important. During recording the DiMAGE Z1 will
continue to focus to provide the sharpest possible image. The optical zoom cannot be
used during movie recording, digital zoom can be used in 320x240 or 160x120 resolution.
The night-movie mode can make color recordings under extreme low-light conditions.
