The SIMPLE record screen display. This is the "point-n-shoot" mode where the camera sets everything for the user automatically. See the next frame for the simplified menu options.

Pressing the MENU button in SIMPLE mode brings up this abbreviated menu screen. PICT. MODE selects the image size from ENLARGE (2304x1728), 4x6" (1280x960) or Internet (640x480). AUTO REVIEW (show image after capture) On or Off. BEEP (camera button sounds) On or Off. And CLOCK SET to set the time/date.

When you half-press the shutter release the focus and exposure is locked and the shutter speed and aperture is displayed.

Press the 4-way controller "Up" when in record mode to change the exposure compensation value (+/- 2.0EV) or to enable the Auto Exposure Bracketing feature and set the step value (1/3, 2/3 or 1 EV).

The LC43 has a very respectable Macro (close-up) focus mode, in wide angle it can focus as close as 3.9 inches. The flash throttles down well to keep from over-exposing subjects as close as about six inches.

In the Review option is enabled then the last picture captured is automatically displayed for one or three seconds. You can manually initiate Review Mode by pressing the 4-way controller "Down."

Movie record mode screen. Recording size is 320x240 with a 10 frame per second capture rate. Audio is recorded. The total amount of recording time available is shown below the battery meter (there is a 512MB SD card in our camera.) The length of each movie clip is limited only by the amount of available memory. The optical zoom is not useable in movie mode, you can use the digital zoom if desired.

    W.BALANCE - White balance; Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Incandescent, Fluorescent or Manual Set

    PICT.SIZE - 2304x1728, 1600x1200, 1280x960, 640x480

    QUALITY - Fine or Standard

    SPOT MODE - Spot Metering; On or Off

    ISO SENSITIVITY - Auto, 50, 100, 200, 400

    AUDIO REC. - Record 5-sec of audio with still images; On or Off

    D.ZOOM - Enable or disable digital zoom option

    COL.EFFECT - Off, Cool, Warm, B/W

    PICT.ADJ - Color saturation; Natural, Standard, Vivid

The SETUP menu:

    MONITOR - Adjust LCD backlight

    AUTO REVIEW - Display image after capture; Off, 1sec, 3sec

    POWER SAVE - Off, 2min, 5min, 10min

    ECONOMY - Battery saver mode; On or Off

    BEEP - Button beep sounds; Off, On, Louder

    FILE NO.RESET - Reset the file numbers

    CAMERA RESET - Reset all settings to default

    CLOCK SET - Set time and date

    LANGUAGE - Menu language
