The aperture is F2.0 and the shutter speed is 1/50 sec. The upper right corner is the EV exposure compensation factor (0.0). The green "17" indicates the number of pictures remaining at the current size and quality setting. The black rectangle in the lower left shows the status of the 32MB DRAM buffer.

Record screen in the Aperture priority mode. You change the aperture value by pressing the Up or Down buttons on the 4-way selector switch. It works exactly the same way when you're in Shutter speed priority mode except you alter the shutter speed values. And in Manual mode you can change both the aperture and shutter speed values.

This is the recording screen when you are in the Movie mode - note the little icon of the movie camera in the upper left. The flash is disabled, the sound is enabled and the default setting is for HQ quality. The green 121" indicates that there is enough memory on the card to record 121 seconds of video.

The C-3040 Zoom can record up to 75 seconds of HQ (320x240 pixel) resolution QuickTime motion JPEG with audio at 15 frames per second. You can record up to 300 seconds of SQ (160x120 pixel) resolution motion JPEG with audio at 15fps. Note that a 32MB size SM card is required for this.

When manually focusing you get an onscreen display of the camera to subject distance (feet or meters is selected in the menu). When you alter the focus in manual mode it displays a magnified view onscreen which makes it a lot simpler to actually "see" the proper focus point.

WB - White balance: Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Incandescent, Flourescent or One-Touch custom

ISO - Sensitivity: Auto, 100, 200, 400

- Flash output power +/- 2 in 0.3 increments

- Flash slow-sync: Off, Slow1 (leading), Slow2 (trailing)

DIGITAL ZOOM - Enable or disable digital zoom

FUNCTION - Off, B&W, Sepia, White Board, Black Board

- Record 4-sec sound clip after picture, On or Off

Panorama mode (only available with Olympus brand SmartMedia cards)

CARD SETUP - Format the SmartMedia card

MODE SETUP - (4 pages of submenus, see next frame)

- Image Quality: TIFF, SHQ, HQ, SQ1, SQ2

A/S/M MODE - Select the desired mode for the A/S/M position on the mode dial

AE LOCK - Set the status of the AEL function - Off, Single or Multiple exposures

ALL RESET - Off, On or Custom: On resets all settings to default when power is turned off, the Off setting retains all current settings. Custom is a sub-menu of five pages where you can individually select the options to be reset or retained.

- White balance fine tune between Red and Blue.

SHARPNESS - Hard, Normal, Soft

CONTRAST - High, Normal, Low
