The DC4800 has a 1.8" color LCD display to frame or review your pictures and
navigate the camera's menu system. When used as a viewfinder the LCD shows 95% of
the final captured image. There's an optical viewfinder
that can be used
when taking pictures outdoors or any time you want to save your battery power.

Looking down from the top you can see the large hand grip area on the right side,
the data LCD, exposure compensation dial and the mode dial.

The I/O ports are on the left side and the CompactFlash card slot
is located on the right side (see page 2 for
more details).
![]() The mode dial has positions for (counterclockwise) Setup, Review (Playback), Programmed AE and three positions for Aperture-Priority (F2.8, F5.6 and F8). Pressing the center of the mode dial turns the camera on and off.
Note the dedicated dial for exposure compensation control. Across the back edge
are buttons for selftimer/burst mode, infinity/macro focus and flash modes.
The lever below the flash mode button is the zoom lens control.
"ISO" appears when the user has selected a value other than the default of
ISO 100. "WB" (white balance) means the user has selected a value
other than automatic. The flash modes, selftimer, infinity and macro focus
modes all have dedicated icons.
